Wisdom of The Land International School for Jain Studies

Buddhism and Jainism have a lot in common as they are two branches of the same Sramana
tradition of Indian philosophy and religion and both have much to share and learn from each
other. We complement and supplement each other and hence it is imperative that we start this
study and dialog to further strengthen the cultural and educational ties between Thailand and India.
Since year 2005, International Summer School of Jain Studies (ISSJS) has been inviting scholars
from the field of Religion and Philosophy from various countries including Thailand to study
Jain Philosophy in English language in India during the months of June and July each year. Six Thai
scholars have already studied intensive summer course at ISSJS during past 4 years (2006-2009).
To make this summer course of Jain philosophy available to more Thai teachers, professors and post
graduate scholars in Thailand, we are planning to invite few learned Jain professors from India for 3
weeks duration to Thailand during Thai summer holidays to teach Jain Philosophy (in English
language) at Mahidol University, Salaya Campus, Nakhon Pathom.
Applications are invited for the next year’s (ISSJS 2010) summer course in Bangkok.

Qualifications Required:
• English language skills (speaking, reading and writing) are essential.
• This program is open only to faculty and graduate/undergraduate students in the related
areas of study and engaged in teaching or research, or pursuing advanced studies, at any
accredited university or college worldwide.
• Prior and/or on-going studies in religion, philosophy and culture at post-graduate and/or at
teaching level is essential with strong interest in promoting comparative studies
Course details:
• Course duration: 3 weeks, from Monday, 19th April to Saturday, 8th May 2010.
• Timing: 6 days per week, Monday to Saturday, 8.30 am to 13.00 pm.
• 3 lectures of 1 hour 15 min. duration,15 min break in between lectures.
• Class size: Up to 20 students.
• Fee: This course is offered Free of cost but student shall manage for his/her
accommodation, transportation)
• Tea/coffee, water & light snacks will be provided by Mahidol University.
• Submission Deadline: Your Essay and application form shall be submitted to us on or before
• 15th March 2010.
Note:
Depending on the response from interested candidates, we may arrange 3-4 days’ pilgrimage tour to
Jain (& may be Buddhist) religious places for which the candidates will have to pay a separate fee
(to be advised later) to cover for his/her air travel, Indian tourist visa fees, lodging, boarding, and
transportation cost etc. within India.

กมธ.วุฒิสภา จัดสัมมนา “โครงการเสริมศักยภาพเยาวชนจิตอาสาร่วมพัฒนาประชาธิปไตย”

11 มี.ค. 53 ประธานคณะอนุกรรมาธิการเสริมสร้างเครือข่ายภาคประชาชน และมูลนิธิสายธารประชาธิปไตย ในคณะกรรมาธิการศึกษา ตรวจสอบเรื่องการทุจริต และเสริมธรรมาภิบาล วุฒิสภา เผย เยาวชนยังขาดความรู้ ความเข้าใจในการใช้สิทธิและหน้าที่ของตนตามระบอบประชาธิปไตย ไร้หลักธรรมาภิบาล ชี้ เตรียมจัดสัมมนาเรื่อง“โครงการเสริมศักยภาพเยาวชนจิตอาสาร่วมพัฒนาประชาธิปไตย” หวังจุดประกายความคิดของเยาวชนในการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองอย่างถูกต้อง 29 มีนาคม นี้

นางสาวสุมล สุตะวิริยะวัฒน์ ประธานคณะอนุกรรมาธิการเสริมสร้างเครือข่ายภาคประชาชน และมูลนิธิสายธารประชาธิปไตย ในคณะกรรมาธิการศึกษา ตรวจสอบเรื่องการทุจริต และเสริมธรรมาภิบาล วุฒิสภา กล่าวถึงการจัดสัมมนาเรื่อง”โครงการเสริมศักยภาพเยาวชนจิตอาสาร่วมพัฒนาประชาธิปไตย” ที่จะมีขึ้นในวันที่ 29 มีนาคม นี้ว่า การสัมมนาดังกล่าวจัดขึ้นเพื่อให้ความรู้ ความเข้าใจในระบอบประชาธิปไตย ปลูกฝังแนวคิดธรรมาภิบาล และพฤติกรรมประชาธิปไตยให้กับเยาวชน และเพื่อเป็นการจุดประกายความคิดของเยาวชนในการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองอย่างถูกต้องตามสิทธิหน้าที่และความรับผิดชอบของประชาชนในระบอบประชาธิปไตย โดยจะมีการนำเสนอข้อเสนอ “10 ฝัน ที่เยาวชนต้องการ” ต่อ ศ.พิเศษประสพสุข บุญเดช ประธานวุฒิสภา และมีการอภิปรายเรื่อง บทบาทเยาวชนกับการหนุนเสริมของคณะอนุกรรมาธิการเสริมสร้างเครือข่ายภาคประชาชน นอกจากนี้ การสัมมนาในครั้งนี้ยังเป็นเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนความเห็นระหว่างเยาวชนกับคณะอนุกมธ.ด้วย

In recent years, it seems that change has come in unpredictable waves that are more frequent than in the past century, causing uncertainty regarding what to expect next. At the environmental level, we have witnessed a powerful tsunami and several earthquakes with devastating effects within a relatively short period of time. Turning to the macro-environment, a major recession has severely impacted commerce around the world, affecting exchange rates and the balance of power between developed and developing countries. The price of oil has risen like a thermometer in the hot sun to a high of US$ 140/barrel, only to crash to $30/barrel shortly thereafter. Politically, we have seen the destructive force of terrorist attacks that reduced the World Trade towers in New York to rubble, unprecedented changes in leadership in the U.S., Ukraine, and other countries, and differences in fundamental beliefs regarding issues such as global warming, as well as positions for or against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. These are but a few examples of changes happening around us.

Organisations have not escaped the effects of environmental changes. General Motors, once one of the largest companies in the world, had to seek a bailout from the U.S. government in order to survive. Some financial institutions such as Lehman Brothers were not so lucky and were casualties of the global recession. And at the time of this writing, Toyota faces scrutiny from several governmental committees in Washington regarding the mishandling of a series of safety and quality problems. What is certain is that change is a business reality and there is no escaping this fact. And there appears to be no particular or universal style of leadership that is the answer to these problems. What can companies do? What can you do? This presentation will explore the implications for both companies and individuals in preparing for, embracing and managing change, with eye toward identifying some “best practices” that may be generalisable. Throughout this presentation, you will be challenged to think about how prepared you are to deal with change, and what your leadership agenda is with respect to understanding and managing the various changes you are and will be confronting throughout your career, both professionally and personally.

โครงการจับคู่ธุรกิจ สภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย ได้รับการประสานงานจากกรมส่งเสริมการส่งออก กระทรวงพาณิชย์ ขอเชิญท่านสมาชิกและผู้ประกอบการเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมการนัดหมายเจรจาธุรกิจกับคณะนักธุรกิจจากมณทลเสฉวน ในวันจันทร์ที่ 22 มีนาคม 2553 ณ ห้องบอลรูม 1 โรงแรม แชงกรีล่า ถนนสีลม กรุงเทพฯ เวลา 9.00-17.00 น. โดยมีกำหนดการเบื้องต้นของงานดังนี้

9.00-9.30 น. ลงทะเบียน

9.30-10.30 น. พิธีเปิดงานโดยรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงพาณิชย์ เป็นประธาน

10.30-12.00 น. การบรรยายสรุป "สถานการณ์ และโอกาสทางการค้าการลงทุนไทย-จีน" โดยผู้บริหารมณทลเสฉวนและผู้บริหารระดับสูงกระทรวงพาณิชย์
